Starting and Stopping Steps of the PSA Nitrogen Generator

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen production technology is a high-tech technology that produces nitrogen from compressed air and has been widely used in industry. PSA nitrogen production uses carbon molecular sieves to screen and adsorb nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the air. When the pressure increases, carbon molecular sieves with many uniform micropores adsorb oxygen, and when the pressure decreases, oxygen is desorbed to achieve the separation of oxygen and nitrogen. In fact, carbon molecular sieves not only adsorb oxygen but also nitrogen. Due to dynamic effects and the microporous characteristics of carbon molecular sieves, the diffusion rate of oxygen in the micropores of carbon molecular sieves is much faster than that of nitrogen. PSA nitrogen production generally involves setting up two packed adsorption towers in the system, with carbon molecular sieves filled inside. One tower adsorbs and produces nitrogen, while the other tower desorbs and regenerates. The PLC program controller controls the opening and closing of the pneumatic valve to alternately cycle the two towers, achieving the goal of continuously producing high-quality nitrogen.

Check before starting up

1.Check the system in order, whether all the equipment is in the state to be started;
2. Whether all the import and export valves of the equipment are closed;
3. Whether the power supply is normal;
4. Whether the air compressor and the purification system are normal;
5. Whether the cooling water is normal (some equipment have installed the cooling water circulation system);
6. Whether the equipment itself is clean and tidy, and whether the surrounding environment is cleaned up.

Start-up steps of the PSA Nitrogen Generator

1.When starting the air compressor to normal operation (air supply pressure is 0.9 Mpa), open the gas supply valve of the storage tank and ensure that the instrument gas pressure is 0.8-0.9Mpa; the air compressor starts under no load and drain the oil and water in the air storage tank.
2.Open the freezer dryer, pre-cold for 5-10 minutes, open the sewage discharge valve of the filter in time, and drain the surplus water.
3.The compressed air enters the air buffer tank through the activated carbon filter. When the pressure of the buffer tank rises to 0.8 Mpa, open the air intake valve of the adsorption tower and pay attention to check whether the working system is normal;
4.Turn on the main power supply of the nitrogen generator, open the PLC power supply in the electric control box, and open the start button of the nitrogen generator on the panel of the electric control box or the start button on the man-machine interface. The control system enters the automatic operation state, observe whether each indicator light is normal, observe whether the solenoid valve and pneumatic valve are normal normally (according to the change of the pressure gauge).
5. After the system enters the running state, turn on the nitrogen meter to control the power supply.
6.Adjust the size of the intake valve, slowly open the exhaust valve system, and adjust the outlet pressure of the pressure reducing valve to control the pneumatic valve at about 0.5 Mpa (usually adjusted at the factory).
7.When the instrument enters the test state, adjust the test flow system to enter the test (adjust the sampling relief valve, adjust the pressure to 0.05-0.1Mpa, adjust the sampling flow control valve, can feel the gas out at the probe outlet) After the instrument runs normally, adjust the alarm purity of the nitrogen meter, observe whether the purity alarm, alarm sound and light is normal.
8.Open the unqualified gas exhaust valve, generally turn off the stop valve before the small nitrogen flowmeter, adjust the flow to half of the rated flow, and make the small gas for nitrogen. After the gas reaches the standard, slowly open the pure gas outlet globe valve, adjust the flow to the rated flow, close the empty stop valve, and the equipment can be used in normal operation.

Downtdown steps of PSA Nitrogen Generator

1.Close the air compressor power supply and air outlet valve;
2.Turn off the power supply of the cold dryer;
3.Close the air intake system valve;
4.Turn off the nitrogen generator PLC control power supply and the power supply of the electric control box;
5.turn off each power supply and switch;
6.Open the lower drain valve of the gas storage tank and the oil-water separator and release the oil and water;
7. If it is stopped for a long time, the exhaust valve of each gas storage tank in the system should be opened, and the system should be closed again after pressure relief.

Notes in the operation of the PSA Nitrogen Generator 

1.Always pay attention to the instrument gas supply pressure of the equipment;
2.Pay attention to observe whether the pressure of each adsorption tower is in a normal state;
3.After the equipment is opened normally opened, attention should be paid to whether the air compressor, cold dryer, filter and drain are normal;
4.Note that the outlet flow shall not be higher than the rated gas production of the equipment;
5.On the premise of meeting the test requirements, the sampling flow rate should be minimized;
6.Nitrogen machine back nitrogen flushing valve (regeneration valve) do not adjust without special circumstances;
7.The flow meter should be slowly opened when starting, so as not to break the flow meter;
8.When the equipment is running continuously, the air tightness at the connection of each pipe should be checked frequently, without any air leakage phenomenon, and check whether the operation state of the pneumatic valve is normal.
